Derrick Skogsberg

Derrick Skogsberg has first-hand experience of the emotional and challenging process of business funding. He identified a gap in the franchise development marketplace for comprehensive financial consulting and founded FranFund in the early 2000s. His approach was to create long-term plans for his clients rather than just securing funding and moving on. FranFund became a multi-million-dollar enterprise within a few months, and Skogsberg used his personal retirement savings to establish a second multi-million-dollar business, Tenet Financial Group, in 2008. He is the only executive in the franchise funding industry who can make this claim.
Today, Tenet Financial Group provides funding options such as 401(k) rollovers, SBA loans, unsecured lines of credit, and equipment leases to support thousands of small business clients. The company operates in four states and has its headquarters in Aledo, Texas, with employees in 10 states.

Lindsey Lair

Lindsey joined Tenet Financial Group in 2013 as a member of the Client Services team. Initially, she worked in the Client Service Representative role which included opening new accounts and processing ROBS/401(k) documents, as well as handling state and IRS documentation. With her background in human resources and administrative management duties, Lindsey played a vital role in client onboarding and initial set-up. Lindsey now works as the Director of Operations, where she is responsible for overseeing billing, payroll, daily operational tasks, and the Client Services team at Tenet Financial Group.
She and her husband, Greg, have three grown sons Blake, Tye and Noah. Greg and Lindsey reside in Springfield, Missouri and enjoy trying new restaurants, participating in sports and outdoor activities as well as cheering on the Nebraska Huskers.

Since joining the Tenet team in 2011, Jen has utilized her expertise in 401(k) plan administration, which she gained from working in the industry since 2004. Her primary focus at Tenet is the administration and compliance of Rollover as a Business Start Up (ROBS) 401(k) plans for the company’s clients, including handling participant loans, distributions, 1099s, contribution calculations, eligibility, and vesting calculations, among other IRS reporting duties.
Jen is a graduate of Iowa State University with a bachelor’s degree in finance, and she also holds an associate’s degree in arts and sciences from Western Iowa Tech Community College. In 2010, she earned her certification as a Qualified 401(k) Administrator (QKA) from the American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries (ASPPA).
Outside of work, Jen is highly active in her community. She has coached local youth soccer and softball for over 20 years and has served as treasurer of the Nodland/Sunnyside Elementary School PTA Board since 2014. Jen and her husband, Adam, sponsor a coed softball tournament, the Prestonstock, every year, which has raised over $24,000 for a local family in need from 2014-2020. Jen enjoys playing softball, attending music events, boating, and spending time outdoors with her family, which includes their two children, Kade and Kole, and their two dogs, Champ and Diesel.

Sam Phelps is the Director of Development for Tenet Financial Group. In his role, Sam focuses on the sales and lending teams at the company. With over a decade of experience in commercial and SBA lending, Sam has developed an exceptional understanding of the small business industry and has a strong track record of advocating for his clients, utilizing his expertise to structure and implement practical financial options.
Sam’s educational background includes a degree in Economics and Finance from the University of Missouri and a Master of Finance from Georgetown University, where he also served as a teaching assistant at Georgetown and traveled to South Africa to assist a company in improving its credit structure.
Sam is actively involved in small business forums, and most recently served on the board of the North Texas Association of Government Guaranteed Lenders and the Risk Management Association of North Texas, as well as he continues to serve in current roles as a member of the credit committee of People Fund CDC in Austin, TX and the National Association of Government Guaranteed Lenders Region VI committee. Sam resides in Dallas Fort Worth with his family, where they enjoy attending the theater, exploring new areas in their travels, and supporting their Missouri Tigers.

A native of Nebraska, now living outside Tulsa, Oklahoma, she received her associates degree in liberal arts from Tulsa Community College. Lindsey and her husband, Greg, have three teenage sons and relish in trying new restaurants, watching movies and participating in sports/outdoor activities.

Jen was certified by the American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries (ASPPA) as a Qualified 401(k) Administrator (QKA) in 2010.
